Did your last job cause you to re-evaluate your career direction? Whether it was a toxic work environment, declining industry, raise a family, whatever the circumstances, you decided to take a break. And now you are ready to re-enter the workforce.

Returning to work after an absence has many job seekers fearful that they will not be considered for employment because their skills may be outdated, or experience no longer relevant. These three tips may be of some help.

1. Keep up-to-date with knowledge and skills. Employers are much more willing to hire people who stay current with industry milestones, technologies related to expertise, and people active in a professional network. It’s not that hard to do with workshops, virtual conferences, industry news feeds, blogs, and media sites that anyone can access. It will also make your learning curve easier when returning to work because you are aware of new developments and required skills.

2. Continue to network. Unless you decided to become a hermit during your career break, you more than likely socialized with people you know, came in contact with former co-workers or bosses, and maybe even made a few new connections personal and/or professional. Just because you aren’t working, doesn’t mean you don’t need to network. Professional associations, college alumni groups, LinkedIn groups all have value in staying in touch with people who may have helpful tips and knowledge of where there are potential job opportunities.

3. Volunteer. Learn new job skills and keep current with skills you have used in past positions by volunteering. Not only is this good experience that you may want to use on your resume, it gives you the chance to “test drive” different companies or industries and may sway you to make career changes in the future. Sometimes volunteer opportunities can turn into a paid position and a new career direction.

Job search can be daunting. It takes a lot of time and effort, and some say looking for a job is a full time job. I agree. A professional resume writer and coach can be very beneficial to help you get back on track. What’s most important is to commit to a job search plan and make it work for you.

Volume in forex trading is a very important factor, one that many beginners tend to disregard at first. Even if the forex market is currently the most liquid market there is, taking volume into account is still required.

The volume in trading simply represents the number of participants currently in the market, how they are acting and how that can affect our trades. The more active traders there is, the more volume there will be. It’s important for traders to acknowledge the volume because they need to adjust accordingly, managing their trades, entering or exiting at specific moments. Judging the volume will help a trader know if he should get in the trade or if he should stay out.

Take this analogy: imagine a surfer on the coast of Hawaii. He wants to surf the waves. To enjoy his hobby, he needs the waves to be big in order to actually surf and not just stand still and eventually sink. However, he also needs the waves not to be too big, because that could shove him right to the rocks on the shore and turn out quite dangerous. Forex trading and volume are the same. They go hand in hand. A good amount of volume is important for a trader because he needs the market to actually move if he wants to make any kind of profit. However, he also needs the market not to move too crazily, as it could wipe out his account quite fast.

When thinking of high speculative moments- moments when the volume is so high that outcome of trades become very very hard to evaluate- the news releases come to mind. The NFP news for instance could be the surfer’s “too big a wave”. It’s a very high volume and crazy moment, and a trader must know that it’s going to happen and be prepared to make adjustments, or stay out of the market at that time. Speeches can also drive the markets to high volume spurs and be very dangerous for your trading account.

Knowing how to evaluate volume will tremendously help your forex trading. Quite simply, if you’re looking to enter breakouts or big trends right after the US market closes or during the Asian session, the volume will be so low that it will result in a lot of fake outs and a lot of money lost. However if you know how to evaluate volume, you will know that a better idea is to try trading breakouts and entering big trends during the London session, because that’s the biggest session of all with a lot of traders in the market creating a lot of volume. Volume will create trends, trends are easy to hop onto and ride for as long as possible, so all in all volume will make forex trading easier.

To summarize, do your homework and find which times have the most volume in the market. Forex trading gets so much easier once you know that there are so many people in the market at the same time as you are, and you can just ride along!

The many forms of search engine optimization strategies that have come and gone since the search engine boom attest to how competitive the SEO industry can be. Strategies that work today may not be so effective tomorrow, given the breadth and depth of the efforts of search engines to keep their ranking algorithms up to date and useful.

Luckily, a number of SEO strategies have withstood the test of time — some well-known and others less popular, but equally effective.

Tweaking On-Page Optimization

On-page optimization refers to the SEO adjustments made to the facets outside of the content but within the webpage, typically the HTML codes that make up the webpages that contain the optimized articles.

While many on-page optimization tactics have been abused and subsequently rendered useless (such as HTML META keyword tags), many more are still being put to good use today. Some of them include:

Formatting — bold, italicized, and headlined text are always more important in the eyes of search engine spiders, so the HTML “b” or “strong”, “i” or “em”, and “h1″ to “h6″ will always play crucial roles in on-page optimization.

Keyword Optimization — Just as formatted text is deemed more important, keyword optimization remains a focal point of on-page optimization. Today, however, search engines place more value on readability and often frown on keyword stuffing.

Meta Descriptions and Alt attributes — The META Descriptions of webpages aren’t ranking factors for Google (though Bing and Yahoo admit to using them to some degree), but can be leveraged for better click-through rates. The Alt attributes, on the other hand, remain an ideal means to optimized non-text elements (like infographics and images) within a page.

Internal Linking

While much of the buzz in link-building strategies is around external inbound links, internal linking — linking between webpages within one domain — is equally important.

Aside from the making keyword anchor text more easily noticeable for search engine spiders, proper internal linking helps:

Establish Site Structure — Sitemaps show the structure of your website; internal linking proves it

Make new “Roads” for search engine bots to find new content — Every link ensures that the webpages linked to are indexed by search engine bots

Lend link equity from one page to another — Just as external inbound links share an external website’s link equity to the linked webpage, a webpage linking to another within a domain does the same, though to a lesser extent

Leveraging User-Generated Content (UGC)

UGC is any form of content provided by users of a website and not created by the owners, marketers, or any entity officially associated with the website. UGCs can take the form of reviews, comments, and other sort of content.

UGC is still gaining popularity today, though it has been around for almost as long as SEO. To become one of the most effective SEO strategies, websites need to leverage UGC in a way that:

Highlights keywords — Search engines crawl every piece of textual content in a webpage, including comments and reviews. Highlighting keywords on comment threads or simply making sure the threads are “crawlable” can ensure better keyword relevance.

Gives more value to links dropped within UGC — It’s been a standard link building practice to place backlinks within comments to related articles, but a common misconception is that it’s only beneficial for the receiver of the backlink. The link provides two-way confirmation of relevance, not just one way (so long as no HTML codes indicate otherwise).

Leverages promoting UGC — Promoted comments or top testimonials are some preferred methods of UGC promotion. They ensure that the most relevant UGC (both for users and for search engine spiders) are immediately noticeable.

These are just a few search engine optimization strategies that have come a long way since the search engine boom, and are currently still very effective.

“I’m addicted to food.” “I’m a foodacholic”. I hear many of my clients express these beliefs and if the truth be told, I used to say the same things about myself. I remember planning binges that consisted of high fat, high sugar, and high salt foods. One of my favorite “meals” after a long, hard week in the retail industry (many years ago) was two huge chocolate chip cookies, an extra large bag of Doritos, and a two-liter bottle of Tab (I said it was a long time ago). Can anyone find any protein in those choices? After eating all of that, or two large tacos, two orders of large onion rings, and two large cookies (yup, chocolate chip), I’d feel like I was in a fat and sugar induced coma. Soon afterwards I’d fall asleep and wake up the next morning with a food hangover. Many of you know exactly what I’m talking about. Been there, done that, you’re thinking.

There’s actually science behind that physiological response. High fat and sugar foods activate the pleasure centers in the brain, producing dopamine, in similar ways that alcohol and drugs affect the brain. And the more pleasure we experience, the more we want. Right? Well, kind of. Just like brain altering chemicals eventually affect quality of life (an understatement), high fat and sugar foods and the impulse/ compulsion to eat more of them, can lead to obesity and numerous life threatening illnesses.

Okay, so now what? Do we throw up our hands and say not my fault, my brain (the devil) made me do it? A resounding NO! We go back to basics. Our bodies have innate wisdom. They signal us when we’re hungry and when they do, they want nutritious foods that will fuel both body and brain – proteins, complex carbs, fruits, veggies, dairy products (so many of these are delicious, so stop thinking BORING) – not high fat and sugar choices that make us lethargic, put us in metabolic crisis, and cause us to crave more high fat and sugar foods. If you want to explore the science behind the cravings, read The End to Overeating by David A. Kessler, MD, former FDA commissioner and self-proclaimed (recovering) overeater.

Our bodies are self-regulating machines so to speak. They need “fuel” every three to five hours and will send us signals when we need to “refuel” them. So if you’re wondering if you’re truly hungry, pay attention to hunger signals, (they often make noise in our bellies) and to the last time you ate. If you had a steak dinner and hour ago, you’re not hungry!

So many of my clients feel like failures regarding their relationship with food. “Why can’t I just shut my mouth and stop eating? Why don’t I have any will power?” Here’s where the similarity between substance addiction and overeating breaks down. Alcoholics and addicts can design meaningful, fulfilling lives, without using drugs and alcohol. We can’t do that with food. We need food to live. And to complicate our challenge, right from birth, we were given food for both nourishment and nurturing. Of course we associate food and eating with comfort and connection!

I love food and I love to eat. Eating is one of the most pleasurable experiences in my life. However, just as recovering alcoholics decide to acknowledge their addiction and take responsibility for their behaviors, those of us who have food issues need to recognize our areas of vulnerability, our trigger foods, and take responsibility for our behaviors. I can’t keep chocolate chip cookies or ice cream in my house but I can go out for a cookie or a cone! If we eat when we’re not hungry and eat so much that we’ve made ourselves sick, we need to look at what is driving that behavior. What areas of our lives need fixing? What relationships need repairing? What are we procrastinating about and why? Why are we sad or angry and what can we do about it? If we’re really being honest with ourselves, we know in our heart of hearts, that the answer is not simply “I’m addicted to food”.

More on stopping emotional eating next month. However, if you want a preview of coming attractions, check out Breaking Free from Emotional Eating by Geneen Roth.

Suffering from credit card bill-induced panic attacks? You may be setting yourself up for a lifetime of debt. Younger Americans rack up more credit card debt than their parents and are slower to pay it off, according to a recent study in the journal Economic Inquiry.

Researchers at Ohio State University used monthly surveys to look at the credit card habits of 32,542 Americans between 18-85 years old. They found that Americans born between 1980-1984 will rack up over $5,000 more debt by the time they’re 45 than people born between 1950-1954 had at that same age. Plus, they’ll pay off 24% less every month, when compared to their parents’ generation. “It’s a simple calculation to show that they’re never going to pay off that debt,” says co-author of the study, Lucia Dunn, Ph.D., professor of economics at Ohio State University.

But this younger generation isn’t necessarily reckless with their money. “They’ve racked up enormous amounts of student debt,” says Dunn. “There are also many things that people consider necessities today—like a car—that others didn’t think of as necessities before.”

Need another reason to curb your spending? Women are more likely to stress about debt than men, according to a follow-up study by Dunn and her colleagues. So whether you’re deep in debt or working hard to avoid it, use these tips to stay on top of your finances:

Double your minimum payment
Here’s some good news: Research showed that when the minimum monthly credit card payment is raised just a little, it causes people to pay back even more, which means you’ll get out of debt quicker. “It has a psychological impact on people,” says Dunn. “It makes them take repaying more seriously. In the end, everything costs less if you pay off faster.” Since you can’t control what the bank asks for, make your own rule and stick to it. If your bill says you owe a minimum of $50, make it $100.

Forget your friends’ finances
When it seems like everyone is suffering the same money woes, it can make you less serious about taking control of your spending. “It’s still not the norm to carry credit card debt, but many think it is,” says Liz Weston, financial expert and author of The 10 Commandments of Money. “Don’t take comfort in thinking everyone else is in debt.”

Pick the right plastic
Those fancy reward cards are great, but their rates can be higher than normal. If you’re paying your bill in full every month, go for it. “But if you’re carrying a balance on your card, look for one with a low rate instead,” says Weston. And read the fine print—some cards are made for really big spenders.

Check out these tools
Websites like Mint.com let you track your spending so you can figure out where you budget needs some work. You can also set up helpful text alerts from your bank. Need to save for a big purchase? Set up an online account somewhere like Ally or ING Direct, says Weston. They’ll let you set up free sub-accounts that will automatically subtract savings each month.

Don’t forget the future
It may seem way too far away, but the best time to start saving for retirement is in your twenties and thirties. Even if you’re paying down student loans and credit card debt, keep a little money stashed away in savings so that it gains interest. “People think, ‘I have my whole life to save,’ but that’s not how the math works,” says Weston.

Know when to wave the white flag
Unfortunately, if your debt becomes unmanageable, it’s better to get help sooner rather than later. “If your debt is equal to half or more of your income, it’s time to talk to a credit counselor or bankruptcy attorney,” says Weston. Check out the National Foundation for Credit Counseling at NFCC.org for help.

When you spend time developing a great website, you want to share it with others. If your website is an e-commerce site, you may need others to see it so that you can produce a profit from it. After all, you cannot sell your products online if nobody visits your site. Many people who have taken the time to develop a website have spent at least a little time researching ways to boost search engine rankings and to make the site easier for others to find. You may be aware that the website content included on your site plays a major role in search engine rankings for specific keywords.

Plr articles, also known as private label rights articles, can also be used effectively on your website to boost rankings. One of the key factors that websites look at when they determine your rankings is how fresh the content is. It is imperative that you keep your website updated with fresh, relevant content that relates to the keywords you want to focus on. You may want to update your website as often as once a day or even more frequently in order to enjoy a boost in search engine rankings.

While keeping your website updated with fresh articles on a regular basis is important, it is also important that the content is relevant and unique. Search engine rankings use smart analytics. If they notice that you have copied content from another website, your own search engine rankings could be penalized. This means that your effort at using website content for a boost in rankings could actually backfire.

It can be a challenge, however, to produce as much website content as you need to enjoy the boost in search engine rankings that you want. The fact is that you don’t have to produce your own PLR articles. Instead, you can use a reputable writing service to produce the articles that you want and need to post on your website. These will be your articles, and you can publish them under your own name or a pen name. You can even alter the articles as needed. This is a great way to simplify your marketing efforts.

Managing your health begins with you. The fact is that no one cares more about your health than
you do. We should therefore invest in promoting our own health. Proper personal health
management can be achieved by engaging in the following:

Gaining the knowledge that you need about your health

Taking excellent care of yourself

Making the most of your visits with your physician and

Keeping good records

Gaining knowledge about your health

A simple matter of self-preservation is to become as knowledgeable as possible about our health
conditions. Sure we can get some if not most of this information from our doctor; however,
teaching yourself about any health related problems that you have will put you in a better
position. Acquiring the requisite knowledge will also help you to understand what your doctor is
saying. You will also be able to steer the discussion into areas that are most relevant to you.

Knowledge is power therefore get educated about your medical health.

Take excellent care of yourself

This goes without saying; however, it cannot be said enough. The reality is that taking good care
of yourself will allow you to enjoy better health. Effective personal health management can be
achieved by doing the following:

Maintaining an ideal body weight

Avoid smoking and second hand smoke

Exercising regularly

Reducing saturated fats

Consuming a balanced diet that includes lots of fruits and vegetables and plenty of water

Making the most of your doctor visits

This is something that very few people practice at all; however, it is a key part of personal health
management. Unfortunately because so many people visit the doctor on a regular basis, your
doctor has far less time for you. Therefore in order to get the most out of your doctor visit you
need to plan them ahead of time. You can do this by:

Setting goals – know exactly what you want to get out of your visit
Write down any questions or comments – For each goal that you want to achieve write down any
questions or comments that you want your doctor to address.
Take relevant data with you where possible – Your doctor won’t always have the information
that they need so be prepared.
Take notes – Make sure that all your questions/comments are addressed.

Keeping good records

Keeping good records is also an important part of personal health management. Ensure that you
have a copy of your recent medical history. Place all relevant information in a folder and store it
in a safe location. You never know when this data will be useful. Leave nothing to chance.

The Benefits of Meditation on Your Health

We live in an age where people always have a busy schedule, are always on the go and are
constantly faced with distractions. Because of our fast paced lives it is very difficult for most
people to figure out the best way to calm down; or in other words meditate. There are also some
people that can find the time to meditate; however, while meditating they have a difficult time
quieting their mind and keeping focus. After continuously trying and failing to effectively
mediate some people give up. However, it is the stresses of our lives today that make meditation
an integral part of any health management technique.

People are now at a greater risk of developing heart conditions because of the fact that our stress
levels have skyrocketed. This is main reasons why learning how to effectively meditate is so
critical to our overall health and well being.

How to effectively meditate

Because meditation is so important to health management it is important that we learn how to
effectively meditate.

Location – You need to find a spot in your home that is free from distractions. This could be the
bedroom, the basement or just about any spacious space in your house. The key here is to make it
sacred and distraction free.

Meditating Position – When you are ready to meditate make sure that you are in a comfortable
position. Ensure that the body is firmly planted into the ground in order for it to be centered.
There are a number of meditating positions that you can use, so chose the one that you are most
comfortable with. Note: that once you have found a position that you are comfortable with you
will need to straighten your back.

Close Your Eyes – When your eyes are open you are easily distracted. Effectively meditating as
part of your health management strategy means that your eyes must be closed while you remain
focused on a specific item.

Mediation Benefits to your health
Meditation will certainly calm your mind and improve your overall health. Here are some
additional benefits of mediation.

It releases the tension in your muscles – This will relieve pain, allow the body to relax and
increase mobility.

It lowers high blood pressure

It stimulates the immune system – Whenever the body becomes stressed the immune slows
down. Meditating therefore allows the healing process to work well by relaxing the body.
It increases your recovery rate – If you are sick or are recovering from surgery then meditating
will speed up your recovery time.

With all the benefits associated with meditation, it is undeniable that practicing meditation as
part of your overall health management routine will help you to live a longer, healthier and
happier life.

In order to effectively practice health management we need to focus on 3 main areas: proper nutrition, adequate physical activity and relaxation. Optimal health cannot truly be achieved if even one area is neglected. Proper nutrition is the starting point for a healthy mind, body and spirit. This is because what goes in will determine what comes out.

What goes into your body will affect you moods, energy levels, your thinking and ultimately your body. Physical activity is great for both our muscles and our mind. Additionally we should never forget the importance of relaxation. We need to relax to give the mind and body time to rest from a stressful and busy day. After all we cannot recuperate for the following day unless we take the time out to rest.

Nutritional Supplements and Health Management

It is very difficult for many people to live healthy when our diet doesn’t provide us with the sufficient amount of nutrients that we need. This happens for a number of reasons:

Our buys lifestyle makes us skip breakfast

We are too tired to eat after work

We are too tired or busy to prepare the healthy meals that our body needs

We purchase too much fast food because it makes our lives easier

To fill the gap it recommended that we take nutritional supplements as part of our health management regime. However, don’t delude yourself into thinking that taking supplements alone will make you healthier as they do not replace physical activity and a balanced diet.

Physical Activity and Health Management

Physical activity is also an important part of any health management regime. Exercise keeps us fit, helps us to effectively manage our weight, allows us to sleep better at nights and gives us more energy. Engaging in physical activity to manage your health will allow you to feel better both mentally and physically. If you haven’t exercised in ages then please do so now; however not before consulting your doctor. Your body will thank you for it.

Relaxation and Health Management

If you are constantly feeling weak then clearly you aren’t getting enough rest. Understandably it is easy for us to get caught up in our days as we are busier today than in the past. However, in order to maintain good health we need to find a balance between rest and relaxation. In order to be “happy” we push and push ourselves beyond our limits only to put our bodies at risk of ill health. Relaxation is by far one of the best health management techniques. So find that which makes you truly happy and make time to de-stress.
